About my research process
6 AI prompts you can steal now
Account & Persona Research..
I can’t believe it. For years, I busted my ass doing research on accounts & prospects. I’m talking full time stalker mode.
I’m telling you, if I had 10 accounts, I would spend an ENTIRE week, almost all 40 hours, building detailed account plans.
Where was most of that time spent? Googling and stalking.
I am a very strong believer in the more you know about the business you’re reaching out to, the higher the chance of selling to them.
In addition, I believe the ACV is higher on companies you understand and know.
With AI we can learn about accounts immediately.
So let’s get into 6 prompts you can use for account & persona research.
6 AI Prompts for Account & Persona Research
Below, I’ll give you prompts I use that you can copy and paste. Three prompts for account research, three prompts for persona research.
The idea here is to get as much information as possible - not drill down into very small specifics.
*disclaimer: ai works on public info so if your prospect is Patrick Star, it may not work well for you*
Account Research Prompts:
Company Overview
"Tell me everything about [Company Name]. I want to know what they do, who their customers are, how they make money, and what makes them special. Share details on their history, big wins, and any challenges they face in their industry."
Tech Stack & Business Tools
"What software and technology does [Company Name] use? List their CRM, security tools, sales tools, marketing software, and anything else that helps them run their business. If possible, include why they might use those tools and any gaps they may have."
Growth & Pain Points
"How is [Company Name] growing? Tell me about their revenue, funding, hiring trends, and leadership changes. Also, share their biggest challenges, risks, and opportunities. Are they expanding? Struggling? Trying to solve any big problems?"
Persona Research Prompts:
Professional Background & Role
"Give me a full breakdown of [Person’s Name] at [Company Name]. What is their job, what do they focus on, and what problems do they deal with? Share their past work history, what skills they have, and how they fit into the company’s leadership."
Their Goals & Challenges
"What does [Person’s Name] care about most in their job? What are they responsible for, and what big challenges do they face? Tell me what they are measured on (KPIs), what keeps them up at night, and how they make decisions."
Their Influence & Interests
"How much power does [Person’s Name] have in making buying decisions at [Company Name]? Do they control a budget? Do they need approval from someone else? Also, what do they talk about online, what do they post about, and what topics interest them?"
Starting here should give you a great understanding of the business you’re trying to break into and the people in the org.
Which prompt are you most excited to use?
